Who started this charity/non-profit?

• The Muse Whitaker Memorial Committee, Inc was formed in June of 2022 with signficiant effort by those who knew Max Muse and Landis "Lanny" Whitaker.  It is operated by citizens of Moore County, NC and it performs its duties with the full knowledge and support of the families of Max Muse and Lanny Whitaker.

What is the goal of the committee?

• The goal of the committee is to construct a very substantial memorial where Max Muse and Lanny Whitaker lived and served.  This will be an asset and highly visible fixture for the community for decades to come and will honor their memory and service.

What kind of memorial will this be?

• We have many ideas already in mind, but the final design of the memorial is still in the design stages

Where will the memorial be located?

• The memorial will be located in or near Carthage, NC.  The plan is for the memorial to be a tourist attraction and be highly visible on or near a well traveled thoroughfare.  The final site is under negotiation but has not yet been finalized.

Are my donations tax deductible?

• Yes.  The Muse Whitaker Memorial Committee, Inc is fully registered with the North Carolina Secretary of state as a 501(c)(3) non-profit and your donation is fullyn tax deductibe.

​When do you anticipate construction to start?

• Construction is currently in the conceptual phase.   The start date for auctual construction is highly dependent on our revenue flow.
